Keep on keepin' on. Right?

First, thank you to everyone for the comments and the personal emails that have come in full of support. We both really appreciate it and it's always nice to know that you're thought of.

We actually made it to one of our baby classes today, which is always nice. It means getting out of the house. My body, which hasnt felt like my own, felt ok. I talked to the Gestational Diabetes specialist yesterday and we meet with her and her center for two classes starting the week after Thanksgiving. What we'll have to do is very close to what I was doing with our nutritionist prior to the pregnancy.

Your first class is learning, learning, learning, and getting your glucose kit. I'll have to journal my eating and blood sugar levels every day. The next week we take all of that information into class and they research it with us. I felt a little better after talking to her because she said you can be the cleanest and greatest eater, exerciser in the world, and still, end up with this condition. Being told that it aggrivates Hyperemesis meant a lot too. It actually explained a lot. With Corey, my Hyperemesis was gone in month four. This time it's just kind of hung on and come and gone in waves lately.

The GD explains the exhaustion too. The past month, I've barely been able to get out of bed without panting like a dog. I have the nesting impulse in my head, but my body just says NO, lol. Anyway, enough on that....

We are meeting Jen's family for Thanksgiving this week. We're both really looking forward to seeing them :) Happy Holidays everyone.

All I guess we can do is be hopeful, right? Right. Happy Holidays everyone

Our precious Addison at 29 weeks......

From Jen: Today was so amazing to me. I could talk to her and she responded to my voice, she would move her head as if she was looking for me. She has a cute little dimple on her right cheek. Of course I am biased but I think she is adorable. Getting more excited everyday. Although we have a ton of things to do prior to her arrival. Just wanted to share her cute little pics with you all.

Heavy Sigh

Well. I have it. Gestational Diabetes. I'm kind of over the anger I had the day before yesterday. And, really, I just told Jen, I shouldnt be surprised.

Before we got pregnant, we had a nutritionist. I kept a detailed food log of what, exact amounts, calorie counts, carbs, protein, fats etc etc, I had eaten every day. We were on a completely organic, unprocessed food diet. We felt great. We looked great. I checked in, book in hand, with my doctor and/or nutritionist every month, and things were good. Then, we got pregnant.

With the Hyeremesis setting in full force by week 6, this all went out the window, because really, I was at the mercy of what my body could tolerate, if that were anything at the time. So, in came processed foods, yuck, and fruit juices (which I had completely given up in trade for all whole fruits because your body breaks them down better), and, the ultimate evil, even some fast food.

Although just recently, I've been able to start cooking and shopping some again, it's still been hard. Some things work well, some do not. I truly feel that my body has just been through the ringer. Losing 35lbs before pregnancy, gaining a little at the beginning, then losing another 35, and now, gaining it all back. A really bad, unhealthy roller coaster. And again, we're just thankful that so far, Addison is ok and healthy. However, I still feel that I have a small right to complain, lol.

I really think that I'll be one of those people who will be able to control this for the last two months with strictly diet alone. I'm very anal retentive when it comes to following instructions. They are going to send me to the part of their practice that deals solely with pregnant diabetics and those with gestational diabetes. They said that the first thing they do is put you on a strict diet. No problemo.

The only problem I forsee is figuring out what my body is going to want to keep down or be able to digest in a painless manner. I guess that we'll see. For now, I feel amazed and confused at times at how much your body can control you. We had planned for such a healthy brilliant pregnancy, and what we got, has been completely out of our control. Although, we have so much to be thankful for, we deserve the right also to have some human emotion about it all. Hope everyone's doing well out there.

A little bit of anger, a little bit of fear, a whole lot of frustration

Well. I'm in my third trimester. We got to celebrate this for exactly one day. ONE. Uno. We had several doctor's appointments yesterday due to a bad week last week. One of the appointments was your 'routine' glucose test. Now, I wasnt really worried about this because we eat well, and dont eat a lot of sugar. Well, we received the call today saying that my glucose levels were 'off the charts' and I have to go in tomorrow for the 3-4 hr glucose testing to see if I have Gestational Diabetes.

Can I just say that at this point, if I did have it, it would be a slap in the face? This pregnancy has been so difficult. I know that it's all going to be worth it, but right now, we just really dont need anything else. We had a feeling that the test may not be coming back great almost immediately following me having to drink the glucose. For those of you who have never had this test, here's what it entails: You get an eight oz bottle of whatever flavor you want of glucose. Basically, 50mg of pure liquid sugar. DISGUSTING. The kicker here is, you HAVE to drink the whole thing within five minutes. GROSS. Now, imagine having to do this during a Hyperemetic pregnancy, where you gag on pretty much everything including water. Right.

So, I took the test and within an hour, Addison is kicking. We're laughing at first thinking, "Oh, she's little stimulated by the sugar". By 1:30am this morning, she hadnt stopped for even a minute. To say that we were a little concerned, is an understatement. My heart was racing as though I had been working out. It was awful. So, after we got the call today about the test results, and Addison was STILL moving like a rocket in the middle of the day, we decided to head into the OB. Unfortunately, our OB was out. The one we had to see made us feel like overreactive jackasses for having come in. We always LOVE that. She was someone we hadnt seen before, and now we know, we'll never see her again. Not if I have a damned thing to say about it anyway.

Tomorrow morning, we'll head off to start the four hour process of doing this glucose thing again. I'm not looking forward to it, because I have to drink that shit twice this time. Poor Addison. She's going to be up for days, and then probably sleep for days. I'm really angry, because none of this was supposed to happen with this pregnancy. The Hyperemesis was one thing. That affected me, and Addison was ok. But GD? That could affect her, and it doesnt make any sense to me why I might have it. I need to stay positive in hoping that this next test comes back negative, but I'm having a hard time with that at this point. I'm really tired. Really. Tired. Is it February yet?

My new camera......Nikon D40

Michelle surprised me the other day with the best gift EVER!! A camera. I love taking pictures but this camera makes me love it even more. Its not even the ONE I was looking for but its the best camera I have ever had. I can't believe how great it takes pictures. And just in time, we are going to San Diego for Thanksgiving so I will be getting a lot of use out of it then.
I just couldn't believe it, and wasn't expecting it at all. I feel like I am on a candy high, only its a camera high. I took 188 pictures yesterday and today 78 pictures. I just can't wait to go more places and take more pictures.
So, I am sharing some of my first pictures. I haven't read the whole book yet, so I am still learning but don't think I have done too bad so far. What do you think?
Just had to share my excitement.

Nablopomo Supporter

So I said that I was going to remedy my as of late, empty blog, but obviously I havent. We had a really rough week with the Hyperemesis this last week ending on Friday with almost being admitted back into the hospital. Thankfully though, I went to see my OB earlier this time, they were more aggressive with appropriate treatment and by Sunday afternoon, I was almost feeling human again.

I had also decided not to participate in Nablopomo this year. Instead, I've committed myself as a supporter. Trying to read my regular blogs and leave comments so people dont feel like it's been useless. I think many of us took that role this year, lol. Not that I dont love to write, but I just havent had it in me the last couple of weeks. I bought Jen a new camera since she's an amazing photographer and she's really wanted a good camera for when Addison gets here. I'll pick a few this week and post them so everyone can check them out, and blog more then. Love to all!
